Protecting What Matters

WINNIPEG, MB: Maurice (Moe) Sabourin, President, Winnipeg Police Association (WPA) is pleased to announce the 9th annual Cool 2Be Kind campaign is now underway.

logo cool2bekindCool 2Be Kind was created by the WPA and helps to teach students in grades K-8 the value of being kind to others and making positive choices in school and in life.

Students and educators are invited to submit a Kindness project proposal for their school with the opportunity to receive funding in the amount of $500 to see their project come to life. "As each school Kindness project is designed by students and educators to meet the specific needs of the students, it has a much greater chance of making an impact," said Maurice Sabourin, President, WPA.

Over the past eight years, the Cool 2Be Kind campaign has funded 201 school Kindness projects totaling $100,500.

Cool 2Be Kind Co-Chairs are The Hon. Heather Stefanson, Minister of Families, Province of Manitoba, and Kevin Klein, City Councillor for Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood. The Celebrity Chair is Brody Jackson, Host of the Morning Show on QX 104 FM.

The Winnipeg Police Association believes teaching students the benefits of kindness is a positive, pro-active approach. “We want young people to experience the power of kindness,” said Sabourin. "Being kind to others benefits everyone and is a recipe for happiness and success in life."

Funding for Cool 2Be Kind school Kindness projects is provided by generous corporate sponsors. For a complete sponsor list visit: www.cool2bekind.ca

"The Winnipeg Police Association thanks all sponsors for their kind support and we continue to invite companies, organizations and individuals to get involved," said Sabourin. "A contribution of $500 will fund one school Kindness project."

Students and educators from Winnipeg N-8 schools may visit www.cool2bekind.ca and submit their Kindness project proposal online. The deadline for Kindness project submissions is December 31, 2020.
