Protecting What Matters

WINNIPEG, MB: With no one ‘Ride Day’ this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Manitobans were again asked to ‘Ride Alone Together’ in support of the 13th Annual Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad (MRFD). Riders registered online, collected pledge donations and enjoyed their ‘RAT Ride’ on the days and routes of their choosing – all in the fight against prostate cancer. Today, Saturday, October 2, was the last day for ‘RAT Rides’ and over $115,000 was raised for the cause with pledge donations continuing to come in.

“For the second consecutive year, the pandemic meant we had to Ride Alone Together, but it didn’t deter our volunteers, sponsors, Riders and pledge donors and we’re grateful for their continued support,” said Kirk Van Alstyne, Co-Chair, MRFD. “Many thanks to our presenting sponsor, PlayNow.com, the Winnipeg Police Association, and to all corporate sponsors, registered Riders, donors and volunteers. Hopefully, we’ll be back to a single Ride Day with 1,500+ Riders in 2022.”

The 13-year fundraising total for the Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad is now over $2.76 million with all proceeds staying in Manitoba for prostate cancer research and education. This year’s event includes a 50/50 raffle, with the jackpot sitting at $55,000 (and growing) with the digital draw happening October 4 at 9:00 a.m. Also on October 4, the winner of the ‘RAT Ride’ photo contest – showcasing MRFD registered Riders exploring Manitoba – will be announced with the winner receiving a backyard BBQ package sponsored by PlayNow.com.

The top five fundraisers for MRFD 2021 are: Bill Brokke, Gary Bernard, Gerald Kiyan, Sonia Kraynyk, and Bruce Curie – congratulations and thank you! Celebrity Ride Captains were Adam Bighill, Gord Leclerc, Ami Houde, Bob Dyce and Charlie Huddy.

The 2022 Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2022.
