WINNIPEG, MB: The Winnipeg Police Association (WPA) in partnership with the Behavioural Health Unit of the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) are proud to announce a new partnership agreement with Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC). A national mental health service provider, WWC offers programming to support Veterans and First Responders including all current and retired members of the WPA/WPS and their families. 

“Policing is an extremely difficult profession and keeping Winnipeg families safe can take a toll on our members’ wellness,” said Maurice Sabourin, President, Winnipeg Police Association. “It is recognized that no one program can provide a 100% solution for the mental health and wellness of members and their families. Within this new partnership, our members can seek mental health support and programs offered by Wounded Warriors Canada at no cost.”

Members may access resources through Wounded Warriors Canada including: Trauma Resiliency, Couples Resiliency, Surviving Spouses, Kids Camp, PTSD service dogs as well as other individual services. Members seeking resources can reach out directly to Wounded Warriors Canada, or request the assistance of WPA Directors to make the connection.

WPA/WPS members are faced with challenging situations that test both their physical and mental health and safety. Wounded Warriors Canada combines clinical best practices and evidence-informed care to create an environment of compassion, hope and resiliency for participants.

“It was clear from the results of the recent WPS Mental Health & Workplace survey our members want and need more support and care,” added Sabourin. “The WPA is pleased to provide the membership another effective option for improved mental health.”
